Steering: Service and Repair

1. Verify the vehicle is on a level surface.
2. Inspect for the power steering fluid in the reservoir (6) for foaming or a milky appearance. Foaming and a milky appearance indicate either the existence of air in the system or the fluid level is too low.
If the power steering fluid is foaming or has a milky appearance, bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding Power Steering System.
3. Inspect the fluid level in the reservoir (6).
4. If the fluid level is below the MIN indicator (3), add Dexron (R) III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143, or the equivalent.
