Fluid Line/Hose: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure






1. Remove the hose retainer clip from the fluid cooler hoses (1, 4, and 5).
2. Remove the cable from the bracket at the top of the transaxle. Refer to Shift Select Cable Replacement.
3. Remove the TV cable bracket from the top of the transaxle. Refer to TV Cable Replacement.
4. Remove the inlet and the outlet hose-to-pipe clamps.
5. Remove the fluid cooler hoses from the fluid cooler pipes (2, 3).
6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
7. Place a drain pan container under the transaxle cooler.
8. Disconnect the inlet and the outlet hose-to-transaxle cooler clamps at the bottom of the radiator.
9. Remove the hoses from the transaxle cooler.
10. Remove the union pipe from the fluid cooler pipes at the bottom of the transaxle.
11. Remove the drain pan under the transaxle cooler.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Remove the bolt and the bracket that retains the fluid cooler pipe from the top of the transaxle.
14. Remove the inlet and the outlet fluid cooler pipes from the transaxle.
15. Inspect the cooler hoses and the cooler pipes for damage and for leaks. Replace the cooler hoses and the cooler pipes, as necessary.

Installation Procedure






1. Install the cooler union pipe and the fluid cooler pipes (2, 3) to the transaxle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bracket to the top of the transaxle. Secure the bracket with the 1 bolt.
Tighten the bolt that retains the bracket for the transaxle cooler pipe to 10 Nm (7.5 inch lbs.).
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Install the inlet and the outlet union bolts to the fluid cooler pipes to the bottom of the transaxle.
Tighten the inlet and the outlet union bolts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the fluid cooler hoses (1, 4, 5) to the transaxle cooler at the bottom of the radiator. Secure the inlet and the outlet hose-to-transaxle cooler clamps.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Install the fluid cooler hoses to the fluid cooler pipes. Secure the hoses with the clamps.
8. Install the cable and the TV cable bracket to the top of the transaxle. Refer to TV Cable Replacement.
9. Install the cable into the bracket at the top of the transaxle. Refer to Shift Select Cable Replacement.
10. Install the retainer clip to the fluid cooler hoses.
11. Refill the transaxle, as necessary. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking Procedure.
