Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Replacement
The rear compartment lid torque rods (1) are spring loaded. The rods are adjustable in order to increase or decrease operating effort.
1. Fully open the rear compartment lid.
2. Insert a hollow, thick-walled tube into the end of the torque rod. This action will relieve pressure from the rear compartment lid hinge arm.
3. Move the torque rod in the following directions in order to produce the desired result:
3.1. Move the torque rod (1) upward one notch in order to increase the opening assist.
3.2. Move the torque rod (1) downward one notch in order to decrease the opening assist.
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the rear compartment lid.
2. Remove the rear window panel trim.
3. Remove the hinge assembly bolts (2).
4. Remove the rear compartment lid hinge assembly (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the rear compartment lid hinge assembly (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
2. Install the hinge assembly bolts (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 11 Nm (97 lb in).
3. Install the rear window panel trim.
4. Install the rear compartment lid.
