Coolant Reservoir: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

Notice: Refer to Use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL Coolant in Service Precautions.





1. Drain and recover the coolant from the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
2. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the radiator surge tank.





3. Remove the low coolant connector.





4. Remove the radiator surge tank hold down screw and the tank.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Connect the surge tank to the vehicle.
^ Tighten the bolt to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).





2. Connect the coolant hoses to the radiator surge tank.





3. Install the low coolant connector.
4. Fill the cooling system at the radiator surge tank. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
5. Inspect the system for leaks.
