Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Rear
Removal ProcedureCaution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Powertrain Management.
3. Remove the throttle body duct.
4. Remove the oxygen sensors. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Replacement (HO2S 1) or Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Replacement (HO2S 2) in Powertrain Management.
5. Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield.
6. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe from the manifold, if equipped.
7. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe nuts.
8. Remove the crossover pipe from the manifold.
9. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield fasteners.
10. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.
11. Remove the exhaust manifold nuts.
12. Remove the exhaust manifold and gaskets.
13. Clean the mating surfaces at the cylinder head and at the exhaust manifold.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket.
2. Install the exhaust manifold.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the exhaust manifold nuts.
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
5. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
6. Install the exhaust crossover pipe to the manifold.
7. Install the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield.
8. Install the top half of the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Powertrain Management.
9. Install the throttle body duct.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
10. Connect the negative battery cable.
