Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
2. Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.




3. Remove the bolt holding the compressor hose bracket to the fan shroud.
4. Remove the compressor hose to condenser nut.
5. Remove the compressor hose from the condenser.
6. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
8. Remove the right wheelhouse splash shield.




9. Remove the nut holding the compressor hose to the accumulator.
10. Remove the compressor hose from the accumulator.
11. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.




12. Remove the block fitting bolt at the rear head of the compressor (2.4L shown).
13. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the compressor.
14. Remove and discard the sealing washer.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the compressor hose assembly.
2. Install NEW sealing washers at the compressor ports.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the block fitting and the bolt to the rear head of the compressor.

Tighten
Tighten the block fitting bolt to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).




4. Install a NEW O-ring seal on the accumulator end of the compressor hose.
Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

5. Install the compressor hose and nut to the accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting nut to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

6. Install the right wheelhouse splash shield.
7. Lower the vehicle.




8. Install a NEW O-ring seal on the condenser end of the compressor hose.
Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
9. Install the compressor hose and nut to the condenser.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

10. Install the compressor hose bracket and bolt to the fan shroud.

Tighten
Tighten the compressor hose bracket bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




11. Connect the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.
12. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
13. Inspect the system operation.
14. Perform the leak test. Refer to Leak Testing.
