Steering Wheel Module Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
2. Use a hex-head driver (or equivalent) in order to remove the screws from the back of the steering wheel (3).
3. Gently pull the driver inflator module (1) away from the steering wheel.
4. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the driver inflator module electrical connector.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the driver inflator module and all other electrical connections.
6. Disconnect the horn ground lead from the steering wheel.
7. Rotate the horn contact lead counterclockwise 1/4 turn in order to remove the horn contact lead from the steering column shaft tower.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Rotate the horn contact lead clockwise 1/4 turn in order to install the horn contact lead to the steering column shaft tower.
2. Connect the horn ground lead to the steering wheel.
3. Connect the electrical connector to the back of the driver inflator module and all other electrical connections.
4. Install the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) to the driver inflator module electrical connector.
5. Gently install the driver inflator module (1) to the steering wheel.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
6. Use a hex-head driver (or equivalent) in order to install the screws to the back of the steering wheel (3).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System.
