Inadvertent Load (Battery Rundown) Protection

The Body Control Module (BCM) has a feature called the inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection. The BCM de-energizes circuit 1393 for 10 minutes (+/- 1 minute) after the ignition switch has been turned from the ACC or RUN position to the OFF position.

The BCM stores power to circuit 1393 when the following conditions are met:
^ Turning the ignition switch from the OFF or UNLOCK position to the ACC or RUN position
^ Removing the key from the ignition key lock cylinder
^ Opening any of the vehicle doors
^ Turning the IP dimmer switch to the DOME position
^ Turning on any of the reading lights connected to circuit 1393
^ The BCM receives a message receives a message from the RCDLR (BCM type 3 or 4 only).
^ Locking a door using a key (BCM type 4 only)

The inadvertent battery power rundown protection feature is mileage-sensitive. The vehicles with less then 15 total miles driven have a 3 minute (+/- 18 seconds) time-out instead of 10 minutes.
