Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Pontiac)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the defroster grille.
3. Remove the instrument panel valance (4) by lifting upward to release the retainers.
4. Remove the end caps.
5. Open the instrument panel compartment.
6. Remove the retaining screws for the glove box trim plate and the accessory trim plate.
7. Remove the accessory trim plate.




8. Remove all of the screws (1) attaching the instrument panel trim pad (2).
9. Remove the instrument panel trim pad (2) from the instrument panel.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the pad (2) to the instrument panel.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the screws (1) attaching the trim pad (2) to the instrument panel.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

3. Install the accessory trim plate.
4. Install the screws to the accessory trim plate and the glove box trim plate.
5. Install the end caps.
6. Install the instrument panel valance (4) by pushing downward.
7. Install the defroster grille.
8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
