Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Hoist the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the CKP sensor harness electrical connector at the CKP sensor.
3. Remove the CKP sensor to engine block bolt.
4. Remove the CKP sensor from the engine block.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Inspect the CKP sensor O-ring for the following condition(s):
^ Wear
^ Cracks
^ Leakage

Replace the CKP sensor O-ring if necessary. Lubricate the new O-ring with engine oil before installing.

1. Install the CKP sensor into the engine block.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the CKP sensor to engine block bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

3. Connect the CKP sensor harness electrical connector.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Perform the CKP System Variation Learn Procedure. Programming and Relearning
