Playing A Compact Disc
Insert a CD partway into the slot, label side up. The player will pull it in. The CD should begin playing. The display will show CD symbol. If you want to insert a compact CD with the ignition off, first press DISP or EJT.
If your driving on a very rough road or if it's very hot, the CD may not play and Err (error) may appear on the display. When things get back to normal, the CD should play. If the CD comes out, it could be that:
^ The CD is upside down.
^ The CD is dirty, scratched or wet.
^ It is very humid. (If so, wait about an hour and try again).
PREV (1): Press this button to go to the previous track if the current selection has been playing for less than eight seconds. If the PREV button is pressed and the current selection has been playing for more than eight seconds, it will go to the beginning of the current selection. TRACK and the track number will appear on the display. If you hold the button or press it more than once, the player will continue moving back through the CD. The sound will mute while seeking.
NEXT (2): Press this button to go to the next track. TRACK and the track number will appear on the display. If you hold the button or press it more than once, the player will continue moving forward through the CD. The sound will mute while seeking.
REV (3): Press and hold this button to advance quickly within a track. Press and hold this button for less than 2 seconds to reverse at 6 times the normal playing speed. Press and hold this button for more than 2 seconds to reverse at 17 times the normal playing speed. Release it to play the passage. The display will show ET and the elapsed time.
FWD (4): Press and hold this button to advance quickly within a track. Press and hold this button for less than 2 seconds to reverse at 6 times the normal playing speed. Press and hold this button for more than 2 seconds to reverse at 17 times the normal playing speed. Release it to play the passage. The display will show ET and the elapsed time.
RDM (5): Press this button to hear the tracks in random, rather than sequential, order. RND ONE will show on the display. RDM T and the track number will appear on the display when each track starts to play. Press RDM again to turn off random play. RDM OFF will appear on the display.
DISP: Press this button to see how long the current track has been playing. ET and the elapsed time will appear on the display. To change what is normally shown on the display (track or elapsed time), press the button until you see the display you want, then hold the button for two seconds.
AM-FM: Press this button to play the radio when a CD is in the player. The CD will stop but remain in the player.
CD: With a CD in the player and the radio playing, press this button to play a CD. Press AM-FM to return to the radio when a CD is playing. The inactive CD will remain safely inside the radio for future listening.
TAPE-CD: With a cassette tape in the player and the radio playing, press this button to play cassette tape. Press AM-FM to return to the radio station when a cassette tape is playing. Press TAPE-CD to switch between the cassette tape and CD if both are loaded. The inactive cassette tape or CD will remain safely inside the radio for future listening.
EJECT: Press the upward triangle button to remove a CD. The radio will play. Eject may be activated with the radio off. CD may be loaded with the radio off if this button is pressed first.
