Hood: Adjustments
Hood Adjustment
1. Loosen the bolts (3) on the hood latch (2).
2. There are 4 front hood bumpers as listed below:
* 2 inboard front hood bumpers, located near the hood latch on each side of the vehicle
* 2 outboard front hood bumpers, located near the fender on each side of the vehicle
3. Turn the inboard hood bumpers clockwise until the inboard hood bumpers are fully lowered.
4. Adjust the outboard hood bumpers by turning the bumper until the hood aligns with the front of the fenders as described below:
* Turn clockwise in order to lower the bumper
* Turn counterclockwise in order to raise the bumper
5. Adjust the inboard hood bumpers until the inboard hood bumpers lightly touch the hood.
6. Measure the difference between the hood and the rear of the fender.
7. Obtain a shim the same thickness of the difference between the hood and the rear of the fender.
8. Loosen the hood hinge bolts (2).
9. Install the shim between the hood hinge and the hood (1).
10. Hand-tighten the hood hinge bolts (2).
11. Position the hood latch upward.
12. Hand-tighten the hood latch bolts.
13. Carefully close the hood in order to engage the hood striker (3) and the hood latch.
14. Adjust the clearance between the hood and fender.
15. Pull the hood release cable actuator and carefully open the hood.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
16. Tighten the hood hinge bolts (2).
Tighten the hood hinge bolts to 21 N.m (15 lb ft).
17. Tighten the hood latch bolts.
Tighten the hood latch bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
