Instrument Panel (IP) - Tie Bar / Cross Vehicle Beam

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Service Precautions. Disable the SIR system.

1 Remove the instrument panel.
2. Remove the fuse block.
3. Disconnect the wiring harness (1) from the lie bar.
4. Remove the bolts (2) and the studs (3).

IMPORTANT: The steering column must be in the straight tilt position, using the tilt lever.

5. Remove the tie bar (1) from the front of the dash.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The steering column must be in the straight tilt position, using the tilt lever.

1. Install the tie bar (1) to the front of the dash.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolts (2) and the studs (3).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts and the studs to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Connect the wiring harness to the tie bar.
4. Install the instrument panel.
