Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Pontiac)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the screws from the instrument panel compartment door hinge.
2. Release the instrument panel compartment door pull strap by pressing down and pulling out from the instrument panel.
3. Remove the instrument panel compartment door from the instrument panel.
4. Remove the screws from the inner instrument panel compartment door.
5. Separate the inner and outer doors from the door frame.
6. Remove the instrument panel compartment door latch.
7. Remove the instrument panel compartment door lock cylinder.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the instrument panel compartment door lock cylinder.
2. Install the instrument panel compartment door latch.
3. Position the inner and outer doors to the door frame alignment tabs.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the screws to the instrument panel compartment door.

Tighten the instrument panel compartment door screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

5. Position the instrument panel compartment door hinge to the instrument panel.
6. Install the screws to the instrument panel compartment door hinge.

Tighten the instrument panel compartment door hinge screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

7. Install the instrument panel compartment door pull strap by positing the pull strap to the slot in the instrument panel and closing the compartment door.
