Mirrors: Description and Operation
Each of the outside mirrors has 2 reversible motors. The motors perform the following functions:^ One motor adjusts the view up and down.
^ One motor adjusts the view left and right.
The driver operates 4 switches. These switches control the polarity of the voltage to the motors. The mirror select switch directs these control voltages to the following outside mirrors:
^ The left outside mirror
^ The right outside mirror
When the switches are in the positions shown in the schematic, the left outside mirror moves. When you move the Up-Down switch to the DOWN position, the following actions occur:
1. Battery voltage from CKT 1040 is applied to the following components:
^ CKT 1499
^ The up-down motor in the left outside mirror
2. The left outside mirror up-down switch supplies a path to ground through the following components:
^ CKT 88
^ The DOWN position contacts of the up-down switch
^ CKT 150
3. The left mirror up-down motor runs. This turns the mirror up.
If you push the mirror control switch to the UP position, the above process repeats, with the following differences:
^ The same motor receives voltage.
^ CKT 1499 is grounded.
^ The motor runs in order to turn the mirror down.
The left left-right motor operates in a similar manner when you move the left-right joystick to the LEFT position. CKT 1499 receives battery voltage and CKT 81 is grounded through the left-right switch.
The left left-right motor operates in a similar manner when you move the left-right joystick to the RIGHT position. CKT 1499 receives battery voltage and CKT 81 is grounded through the left-right switch.
