Condition

Some owners may comment on a drone noise coming from the engine area. Condition is most noticeable at idle speed with air conditioning ON and high ambient temperatures.

Cause

The condition may be due to the accessory belt going into a natural resonance between the A/C compressor and the generator at approximately 950 RPM.

Correction

Replace the accessory belt with the belt listed below. This new belt is made of a diflerent material with a higher natural frequency.

Refer to the Drive Belt Replacement Procedure in the Engine Mechanical - 2.2L sub-section of the appropriate Service Manual.
