Steering Column Jacket - Assemble

Assembly Procedure

Important: Replace the bearing and housing assembly and the pivot pins if the bearing and housing assembly has been staked 3 times.





1. Install the bearing and housing assembly.





2. Lubricate the pivot pins with lithium grease.
3. Install the 2 pivot pins.
4. Stake the pivot pins in 3 locations.
5. Install the tilt spring only. Refer to Tilt Spring - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
6. Install the Ignition switch assembly only. Refer to Ignition Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
7. Install the ignition lock housing assembly. Refer to Lock Housing Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
