127. Vehicle Speed Sensor and Governor Assemble





1. Clean the governor assembly in solvent.
2. Inspect the governor for the following:
- A blocked oil passage
- Damaged springs
- Missing ball valves
- Binding weights

3. Inspect the governor drive gear for the following:
- Damaged teeth
- Teeth wear
- Burrs

4. Inspect the speed sensor rotor (801) for nicks, burrs, or damaged teeth.





5. Hold the governor upside down and pour solvent or DEXRON(R) III into the governor shaft.

IMPORTANT: During the leak inspection, allow the governor weights to hold the ball valves freely in their seats.

6. Inspect for leaks around the ball valves.





7. Affix a new fluid seal (3) onto the governor.
8. Insert the speed sensor rotor (801) onto the governor.





9. Install the governor assembly (4) into the case.





10. Install the governor thrust bearing assembly (6) onto the rotor.
11. Install a new governor cover seal (7) onto the case.
12. Position the governor cover (802) onto the case and finger start two bolts (8).
- Tighten the bolts to 11 Nm (98 inch lbs.).
