86. Drive Sprocket and Turbine Shaft Assemble
Tools Required- J 29569-1 / J 29829-1 Shaft Seal Installer
- J 29569-2 / J 29829-2 Shaft Seal Installer
1. Inspect the driven sprocket (122) for the following conditions:
- Worn or chipped teeth
- Nonuniform teeth size
- Stripped or damaged splines
- Damaged bearing surfaces
2. Inspect the thrust washer (123) for wear or cracks.
3. Inspect the driven sprocket bearing (121) for damage to the races or to the inner and outer diameters.
4. Inspect the drive sprocket (103) for the following conditions:
- Worn or chipped teeth
- Nonuniform teeth size
- Stripped or damaged splines
- Damaged bearing surfaces
5. Inspect the turbine shaft (106) for the following conditions:
- Cracks or damage
- Damaged bushing journal
- Stripped or damaged converter turbine splines
6. Inspect the thrust washer (104) for wear or cracks.
7. Install the drive sprocket (103) onto the turbine shaft (106) and affix the drive sprocket snap ring (102).
8. Install J 29569-1 / J 29829-1 (as indicated in the illustration) onto the turbine shaft. Coat the shaft with TRANSJEL(R) or equivalent.
9. Slide the turbine shaft seals (105) into position one at a time.
10. Use J 29569-2 / J 29829-2 (as indicated in the illustration) in order to size the seals (105).
11. Use J 29569-1 / J 29829-1 (as indicated in the illustration) over the opposite end of the turbine shaft. Coat the shaft with TRANSJEL(R) or equivalent.
12. Slide the turbine shaft oil seal ring (148) into position.
13. Use J 29569-2 / J 29829-2 (as indicated in the illustration) in order to size the seal (148).
