Flywheel: Service and Repair
Removal ProcedureCaution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Important: Mark the relationship of the pressure plate assembly to the flywheel. This will ensure proper balance during assembly.
2. Remove the clutch and pressure plate for the manual transmission. Refer to Clutch Drive Plate and Clutch Driven Plate.
3. Remove the flywheel attaching bolts.
4. Remove the retainer (automatic transmission only).
5. Remove the flywheel.
6. Clean the thread adhesive thoroughly from the flywheel bolts and bolt holes.
Installation Procedure
1. Apply GM P/N 1052624, or equivalent to all flywheel bolts. Follow instructions carefully to ensure proper bolt retention.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the flywheel and the bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the clutch and pressure plate for the manual transmission. Refer to Clutch Drive Plate and Clutch Driven Plate.
4. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement Transmission and Drivetrain.
2. Install the right splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Wheelhouse.
