Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Oil Pan ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Remove the torque converter cover.
Notice: Refer to Oil Level Sensor Removal Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Disconnect the oil level switch.
3. Remove the engine oil and filter.
4. Remove the oil pan bolts.
5. Remove the oil pan.
6. Remove the oil pump pipe and screen.
7. Remove the oil pan gasket.
8. Clean the cylinder block mating surfaces.
9. Clean and inspect the oil pan.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the oil pan gasket.
2. Install the oil pump pipe and screen.
3. Install the oil pan.
4. Apply one drop of GM P/N 12345382 to each bolt.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the oil pan bolts.
^ Tighten the oil pan bolts to 14 Nm (124 inch lbs.).
6. Install the oil filter.
7. Install the torque converter cover.
8. Connect the oil level switch.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Refill the engine oil.
