Traction Control System
TRAC OFFThe IPC illuminates the TRAC OFF indicator when the following occurs:
^ The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) inhibits the traction control system due to a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The IPC sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.
^ The Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM) (with CJ2) or the Climate Control Panel (CCP) (with C67) detects that the traction control switch is pressed (signal circuit is low). The EBCM receives a class 2 message from the IPC or CCP indicating the switch status.
^ The EBCM requests illumination of the ABS indicator. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination.
^ The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition cycle. The indicator illuminates for approximately 5 seconds.
^ The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communications with the EBCM and the discrete back-up ABS indicator signal circuit is high.
LOW TRAC
The IPC illuminates the LOW TRAC indicator when the following occurs:
^ The electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects that the traction control system, the ABS system, or the enhanced stability system is active. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The STABILITY SYSTEM ACTIVE -55 indicator also illuminates in the DIC when the LOW TRAC indicator illuminates.
^ The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition cycle. The indicator illuminates for approximately 5 seconds.
