Brake Switch (Cruise Control): Service and Repair

CRUISE RELEASE SWITCH REPLACEMENT (TCC / CRUISE CONTROL)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the left insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
2. Twist the upper switch (1) counter-clockwise and remove the switch.
3. Disconnect the upper switch electrical connector.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: When installing the brake pedal switches, ensure that the brake pedal remains in the full up or at rest position, or damage to the brake system and/or switch misadjustment may occur.




1. Connect the upper switch (1) electrical connector.
2. Install the upper switch (1) into the upper retainer. Face the switch connector to the 6 O'clock position.

IMPORTANT: The release switch assembly and the stoplamp switch assembly cannot be adjusted until after the brake booster pushrod is assembled to the brake pedal assembly. Incorrect adjustment could cause the cruise control system to not work properly.

3. Adjust the switch. Refer to Cruise Release Switch Adjustment.
4. Install the left insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
