A/T Shift Lock Control Actuator
Removal ProcedureCaution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
3. Remove the electrical connector from the automatic transmission shift lock control.
4. Being careful pry the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator from steering column.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator to the steering column.
2. Connect the electrical connector to the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator.
3. Adjust the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator.
- Pull the tab (1) out on the block side of the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator.
- Shift the column into the neutral position.
- Press on the adjuster block (2) to compress the internal adjuster spring to disengage the adjuster teeth.
- Slide the adjuster block (2) as far away from the solenoid as possible.
- Shift into the park position.
- Lock in place by pushing the tab (2) back in.
4. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
