Linear Shift
Removal Procedure1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
3. Remove the steering wheel.
4. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in Restraint Systems.
5. Remove the steering column trim covers.
6. Remove the automatic transmission shift lock actuator.
7. Ensure the Ignition switch is in the off lock position
8. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
9. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove.
10. Remove the flat head tapping screw from the linear shift assembly.
11. Remove the linear shift assembly.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the linear shift assembly and the tapping screws.
- Tighten the tapping screws to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
2. Connect the park lock cable assembly (1) to the lock module assembly.
3. Install the automatic transmission shift lock actuator.
4. Adjust the automatic transmission shift lock. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
5. Install the steering column trim covers.
6. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in Restraint Systems.
7. Install the steering wheel.
8. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
