Turn Signal Cancel Cam & Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Spring

Removal Procedure





Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the knee bolster Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
3. Remove the steering wheel.


4. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in Restraint Systems.
5. Remove the steering column trim covers.


6. Using J 23653-SIR remove the bearing retainer.





7. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
8. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
9. Remove the upper bearing spring (3).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the upper bearing spring (3).
2. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
3. Install the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
4. Install the bearing retainer.





5. Using J 23653-SIR depress the shaft lock shield assembly.
6. Push the bearing retainer into place.
7. Remove the J 23653-SIR from the steering shaft.
8. Install the steering column trim covers.
9. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in Restraint Systems.
10. Install the steering wheel.
11. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
12. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
