84. Exhaust Manifold Installation - Left

Exhaust Manifold Installation - Left

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the exhaust manifold studs.
Tighten the exhaust manifold studs to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





2. Install the exhaust manifold gasket to the cylinder head.
3. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
4. Install the exhaust manifold nuts.
Tighten the nuts 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the left side spark plugs.
^ Tighten the spark plugs to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) when installing the spark plugs into a new cylinder head.
^ Tighten the spark plugs to 15 Nm (13 ft. lbs.) when re-installing the spark plugs after initial installation.





6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts and bolt.
^ Tighten the two heat shield nuts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the heat shield bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).

Important: Inspect the EGR inlet pipe for leaks. Replace the EGR adapter if the pipe leaks.





8. Install the EGR inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold.
9. Install the EGR inlet pipe bolt and nuts.
Tighten the nuts to 50 Nm (36 ft. lbs.) and the bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
