Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing & Jacket - Assemble





1. Install the steering column trim cover (2) to the steering column jacket assembly (1).





2. Install the steering column housing support assembly (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the 4 hexagon washer head tapping screws (3) to the steering column housing assembly (2).
- Tighten the 4 hexagon washer head tapping screws to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
4. Install the ignition switch assembly. Refer to Ignition Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle.





5. Lubricate the exposed area of the race and upper shaft assembly (1).

Important: Use the marks on the race and upper shaft assembly and the lower shaft assembly from the disassembly procedure. Failure to assemble the race and upper shaft assembly and the lower shaft assembly correctly will cause the steering wheel to the turned 180 degrees.

6. Align the mark on the race and upper shaft assembly (1) to the mark on the lower steering shaft assembly (2).
7. Tilt the race and upper shaft assembly (1) 90 degrees to the lower steering shaft assembly (2) to engage.





8. Install the steering shaft assembly to the steering column.





9. Install the following 4 items to the steering column jacket assembly:
9.1. Install the lower bearing adapter (4).
9.2. Install the bearing assembly (8).
9.3. Install the bearing adapter retainer (2)
9.4. Install the lower bearing adapter clip (1).
10. Install the windshield wiper and washer switch assembly only. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
11. Install the steering column jacket. Refer to Steering Column Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
