Mode Door Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the instrument panel carrier.
2. Remove the heater case cover screws.
3. Remove the heater case cover by inserting a flat bladed tool and pushing upward on the tab retainers. At the same time pushing the tabs outward.
4. Remove the lower door arm screw from the mode actuator.
5. Release the upper mode actuator from the case. Compress the retaining tabs and push outward.
6. Remove the upper door arm screw from the actuator.
7. Remove the door (2) from the channel by pulling outward.
8. Remove the lower door arm by twisting and pulling upward.
9. Remove the upper door arm retainer by sliding it upward with a flat bladed tool.
10. Remove the door arm.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the upper door arm retainer. A new retainer may be necessary.
2. Install the lower door arm by pushing downward and twisting into place.
3. Install the door (2) to the channel.
4. Install the upper door arm screw to the actuator arm.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the door arm screw to 1.8 N.m (16 lb in).

5. Install the upper mode actuator to the case. Push inward until a click is heard.
6. Install the lower mode actuator arm screw to the actuator arm.

Tighten
Tighten the door arm screw to 1.8 N.m (16 lb in).

7. Install the heater case cover by pushing the tabs inward.
Verify both doors are sealing firmly against the heater case cover.

8. Install the heater case screws.

Tighten
Tighten the heater case screws to 1.8 N.m (16 lb in).

9. Install the instrument panel carrier.
