Check Gauges

The CHECK GAGES indicator illuminates under the following conditions:
^ Engine coolant temperature exceeds 107°C (225°F).
^ The engine oil pressure is low.
^ A generator malfunction exists.
^ The fuel level falls below 1/16 of a tank.
^ The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition cycle.

The PCM sends a class 2 message in order to turn on the CHECK GAGES indicator depending on the signals it receives from the following components:
^ Engine coolant temperature sensor
^ Generator
^ Fuel level sensor
