Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Service and Repair

MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the fuel rail assembly

IMPORTANT: If the vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission, go to step 5.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
3. Remove the transmission fluid level tube bolt.
4. Lower the vehicle.

PCV System:




5. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) heat exchange cable fastener (3).
6. Remove the PCV hose (2) from the intake manifold.
7. Remove the PCV hose (5) from the right bank port.
8. Remove the PCV valve pipe from the left rocker arm cover.
9. Release the PCV hose assembly from the mounting brackets(4).
10. Move the PCV hose assembly (1) aside.




11. Disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector.




12. Twist the MAP sensor forward in order to release the sensor from the retainer.
13. Pull the sensor upward.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Before you install the sensor, lightly coat the MAP sensor seal with clean engine oil.




1. Install the MAP sensor. Push the MAP sensor down in order to engage the sensor into the retainer.




2. Connect the MAP sensor electrical connector.

PCV System:




3. Position the PCV hose assembly (1) for reassembly.
4. Insert the PCV hose assembly to the mounting brackets (4).
5. Install the PCV valve pipe in the left rocker arm cover.
6. Install the PCV hose (5) to the right bank port.
7. Install the PCV hose (2) to the throttle body.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

8. Install the PCV heat exchange cable fastener (3).

Tighten
Tighten the PCV heat exchange cable fastener to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
10. Position the transmission fluid level indicator tube, and install the tube bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the tube bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Install the fuel rail assembly.
