Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the instrument panel.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the cross vehicle beam.




3. Remove the bolts from the bracket joining the cross vehicle beam to the HVAC module (3).




4. Remove the bolts retaining the cross vehicle beam to the LH hinge pillar.




5. Remove the bolts retaining the cross vehicle beam to the RH hinge pillar.




6. Remove the defroster duct.
7. Remove the right side window defroster duct.
8. Remove the left side window defroster duct.
9. Remove the cross vehicle beam from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the cross vehicle beam (1) to the hinge pillar.






Important: Do not tighten bolts until step 4.

2. Install the cross vehicle beam to the RH hinge pillar retaining bolts; do not tighten.




3. Install the cross vehicle beam to the LH hinge pillar retaining bolts.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Tighten the bolts retaining the cross vehicle beam to both the LH and RH hinge pillars.

Tighten the cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar retaining bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).




5. Install the HVAC module to the cross vehicle beam retaining bolts.

Tighten the HVAC module to the cross vehicle beam retaining bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




6. Install the HVAC module center support bracket.
7. Install the HVAC module center support bracket retaining bolts.

Tighten the HVAC module center support bracket retaining bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

8. Install the instrument panel wiring harness into position and secure the retaining clips.
9. Install the defroster duct.
10. Install the right side window defroster duct.
11. Install the left side window defroster duct.
12. Install the instrument panel.
