Scan Tool Data Definitions

ABS Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the ABS indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Air Bag Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the air bag indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Brake Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the brake indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Coolant Level: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The BCM monitors the coolant level switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Low.

Cruise Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the CRUISE indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Driver Door Alar Sw.: The scan tool displays On/Off. The BCM monitors the driver door ajar switch, where a closed switch is displayed as On (door is open).

ECT Sensor: The scan tool displays -40 - 151°C (-40 - 304°F). The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the engine coolant temperature sensor. The voltage is inversely proportional to the engine coolant temperature.

Engine Oil Level Switch: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch, where an open switch is displayed as Low (low engine oil level).

Engine Oil Life Remaining: The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM calculates the remaining engine oil life.

Engine Oil Pressure Switch: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil pressure switch, where a closed switch is displayed Low (low engine oil pressure).

Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0 - 9999 RPM. Engine speed is computed by the PCM from the 3X reference input. It should remain close to desired idle under various engine loads with the engine idling.

Fuel Level Sensor (2.4L): The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM calculates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank based on the input from the fuel level sensor.

Fuel Level Sensor (3.4L): The scan tool displays 0-5 V. The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the fuel level sensor.

Fuel Tank Level Remaining: The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM calculates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank based on the input from the fuel level sensor.

Gear Range Status: The scan tool displays First/Second/Third/Fourth/Neutral/Reverse/Park/Manual. The IPC displays the gear range status as determined by the PCM. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the gear range position.

High Beam Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the high beam indicator as commanded by the IPC.

High Coolant Temp Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the engine coolant temperature indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Ignition 0: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC displays On when the IPC detects voltage at the ignition 0 voltage circuit.

Ignition 0: The scan tool displays 0-16 V. The IPC displays the voltage present at the ignition 0 voltage circuit.

Illumination Dimming: The scan tool displays 0 - 16 V. The IPC displays the voltage present at the instrument panel lamp supply voltage circuit.

Key in Ignition: The scan tool displays Yes/No. The BCM monitors the ignition key alarm switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Yes (key is in the ignition).

Low Coolant Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the low engine coolant indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Low Fuel Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the low fuel indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Low Tire Press. Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the LOW TIRE PRESSURE indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Low Traction Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the LOW TRAC indicator as commanded by the IPO.

Low Washer Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the low washer fluid indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Oil Level Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the LOW OIL indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Oil Life Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the CHANGE OIL indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Oil Life/TIM Reset Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The BCM monitors the oil life/tire pressure monitor reset switch, where a closed switch is displayed as On (switch is pressed).

Oil Pressure Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the engine oil pressure indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Park Brake Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The BCM monitors the park brake switch, where a closed switch is displayed as On (park brake engaged).

Park Lamp input: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The BCM monitors the headlamp switch, where a closed switch is displayed as On.

Parking Lamps: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC displays the park lamp status as indicated the BCM. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the BCM indicating that the park lamps are on.

Seat Belt Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the fasten safety belt indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Seatbelt: The scan tool displays Buckled/Unbuckled. The BCM monitors the LF seat belt switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Buckled (seat belt is buckled).

Security Lamp: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The state of the SECURITY indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Security Lamp State: The scan tool displays On/Off/Flashing. The state of the SECURITY indicator as commanded by the BCM.

Service Veh. Soon Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Traction Off Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the TRAC OFF indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Trip Reset Switch: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The IPC monitors the trip reset switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Active (switch is pressed).

Upshift Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the SHIFT indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Vehicle Speed Sensor: The scan tool displays 0 - 255 km/h (0 - 155 mph). The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the vehicle speed sensor. The voltage is proportional to the vehicle speed.

Volt Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the charging system indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Washer Fluid Level: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The BCM monitors the washer fluid level sensor, where a closed switch is displayed as Low (low washer fluid).
