The purpose of New Product Information is to highlight or indicate important product changes from the previous model year. Changes may include one or more of the following items:
^ A component comparison from the previous year
^ Fastener changes
^ Torque values and/or fastener tightening strategies
^ Changed engine specifications
^ New sealants and/or adhesives
^ Disassembly and assembly procedure revisions
^ Engine mechanical diagnostic procedure revisions
^ New special tools required

Component Comparison
^ Revised the lifter guide
^ Revised the thermostat bypass pipe

Torque Values and/or Fastener Tightening Strategies
^ Torque value for the crankshaft balancer bolt has been changed to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.) + an additional 80 degrees.
^ Torque value for the oil filter has changed to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

Changed Engine Specifications
Engine mechanical specifications remain the same as the 2000 products.

New Sealants and/or Adhesives
No new sealants or adhesives have been added.

Disassembly and Assembly Procedure Revisions
Valve lifter removal and installation
Crankshaft balancer installation

Engine Mechanical Diagnostic Procedure Revisions
Engine Noise diagnostic information is now located in the platform books.

New Special Tools Required
No new special tools are required.
