Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
3. Remove the right wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement.
4. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the accumulator.
5. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.




6. Remove the bolt holding the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser.
7. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the condenser.
8. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.




9. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the evaporator.
10. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
11. Unfasten the two clips holding the evaporator hose assembly.
12. Remove the evaporator hose assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Reposition the evaporator hose assembly.
2. Fasten the two clips holding the evaporator hose assembly.
3. Coat the O-ring seal with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
4. Install a NEW O-ring seal on evaporator hose assembly evaporator end.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the evaporator hose assembly and the nut to the evaporator.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting nut to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

6. Coat the O-ring seal with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.




7. Install a NEW O-ring seal on condenser end of the evaporator hose assembly.
8. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting bolt to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

9. Coat the O-ring seal with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.




10. Install a NEW O-ring seal on the accumulator end of the evaporator hose assembly.
11. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

12. Install the right front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement.
13. Lower the vehicle.
14. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
15. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using the J 39400-A.
