Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder: Service and Repair
IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT
NOTE: If the ignition cylinder wont rotate or is seized, refer to Ignition Switch Replacement under Starting and Charging / Starting System / Ignition Switch / Service and Repair / Procedures. Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
Important: You must perform the BCM theft deterrent relearn procedure after replacement of the ignition switch Lock Cylinder. Accessories and Optional Equipment/Antitheft and Alarm Systems/Service and Repair/ Service and Repair
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove instrument panel accessory trim plate.
3. Insert the key and turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ON position.
IMPORTANT: Ignition cylinder wont rotate or is seized.
4. Follow procedure in ignition switch replacement. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement.
5. Using a small curved tool, depress and hold the ignition switch lock cylinder retaining tab.
6. Using the key as an aid, pull to remove the ignition switch lock cylinder from the switch.
7. Remove the key from the ignition switch lock cylinder.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Recode the ignition switch lock cylinder, if necessary.
2. Insert the key and turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ON position.
3. Align the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ignition switch, then press into place.
4. Turn the key to the OFF position and remove the key.
5. Install instrument panel accessory trim plate.
6. Connect negative battery cable.
7. Perform the BCM theft deterrent relearn procedure, if the ignition switch lock cylinder was replaced. Accessories and Optional Equipment/Antitheft and Alarm Systems/Service and Repair/ Service and Repair
