Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Pad Replacement



Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery ground negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
3. Remove the instrument panel (IP) insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) and Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the left and the right carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement (Front Carpet Retainer Replacement) in Interior Trim.
5. Remove the side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement) in Interior Trim.
6. Remove the IP upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the front floor console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Front Floor Console Replacement) .
8. Remove the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement Service and Repair
9. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Service and Repair) .
10. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
11. Remove the IP trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement) .
12. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement.
13. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement.
14. Remove the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Replacement) .
15. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement.
16. Remove the HUD dimmer switch, if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Switch Replacement Service and Repair
17. Remove the HUD module, if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Module Replacement Service and Repair
18. Remove the driver information center. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement Service and Repair
19. Remove the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Instrument Panel Compartment - Replacement) .
20. Remove the IP compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Replacement (Switch).
21. Remove the IP compartment lamp switch.




22. Remove the IP trim pad bolts at the windshield.




23. Remove the mounting bolts (1) from the lower trim pad.




24. Remove the mounting bolt (1) from the IP cluster pocket.
25. Position the IP wiring harness aside.
26. Remove the IP trim pad from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the IP trim pad to the vehicle.
2. Reposition the IP wiring harness.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the IP upper trim pad bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).





4. Install the IP cluster pocket bolt (1).

Tighten the bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).





5. Install the IP lower bolts (1).

Tighten the IP lower bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Install the IP compartment lamp switch.
7. Install the IP compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Replacement (Switch).
8. Install the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Instrument Panel Compartment - Replacement) .
9. Install the driver information center. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement Service and Repair
10. Install the HUD module , if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Module Replacement Service and Repair
11. Install the HUD dimmer switch, if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Switch Replacement Service and Repair.
12. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement.
13. Install the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Replacement) .
14. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement.
15. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement.
16. Install the IP trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement) .
17. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
18. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Service and Repair) .
19. Install the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement Service and Repair
20. Install the front floor console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Front Floor Console Replacement) .
21. Install the IP upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement (Service and Repair) .
22. Install the side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement) in Interior Trim.
23. Install the carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement (Front Carpet Retainer Replacement) in Interior Trim.
24. Install the IP insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) and Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .
25. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System.
26. Connect the battery ground negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
