Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On VehicleRemoval Procedure
1. Verify that the lever is in the center of the OFF position.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the Slid System in Restraint Systems.
4. Remove the steering wheel.
5. Remove the steering column trim covers.
6. Remove the wire harness straps (2) from the wire harness assembly (1) on the steering column.
7. Disconnect the multifunction, turn signal, and hazard switch assembly connector from the SIR coil assembly connector.
8. Slide the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly connectors (2) out of the steering column bulkhead connector (1).
9. Remove the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly screws (1) from the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly (2).
10. Remove the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly (2) from the steering column tilt head assembly.
Installation Procedure
1. Using a small flat-blade tool compress the electrical contact and move the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly into position on the steering column.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Verify that the electrical contact of the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly rests on the turn signal canceling cam. Install the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly screws (1) to the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly (2).
Tighten the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly screws to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly connectors (2) into the steering column bulkhead connector (1).
4. Reconnect the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly connector to the SIR coil assembly connector.
5. Install the wire harness assembly (1) to the steering column wire harness straps (2).
6. Verify that the lever is in the center or the OFF position.
7. Install the steering column trim covers.
8. Install the steering wheel to the steering column.
9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
10. Connect the negative battery cable.
