Headlamp(s) Appear to Vibrate or Flicker
(Adjust Mounting Tab Tension)
Models:
2000-2001 Pontiac Grand Prix
Condition
Some owners may comment that the headlamps appear to be vibrating or tuckering when in use.
Cause
This condition may be due to insufficient tension between the outboard metal mounting tab on the radiator core support and the plastic mounting tab on the headlamp bracket.
Correction
Increase the tension between the outboard metal mounting tab (1) on the radiator core support and the plastic mounting tab on the headlamp bracket using the following procedure:
1. Remove the two 10 mm hex head bolts attaching the headlamp to the vehicle.
2. Remove the headlamp assembly from the vehicle. It is not necessary to disconnect the electrical connector.
3. Bend the outboard metal tab (1) rearward approximately 2 mm (3/32 in).
4. Install the headlamp assembly to the vehicle and install the two 10 mm hex head bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb in).
Important:
It is not necessary to aim the headlamp(s) after performing this procedure.
