Accumulator Tube Replacement

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the vacuum brake booster.
4. Remove the accumulator tube clip.




5. Loosen the accumulator tube nut at the accumulator tube (2).
6. Disconnect the accumulator tube from the accumulator tube.




7. Remove the accumulator tube to evaporator core block fitting bolt.
8. Disconnect the accumulator tube from the evaporator.
9. Remove the accumulator tube tube.
10. Remove the O-ring seal and discard.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The new O-ring seal must be coated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.




1. Install the new O-ring seal.
2. Install the accumulator tube tube.
3. Connect the accumulator tube to the evaporator.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the accumulator tube to evaporator core block fitting bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the accumulator tube block fitting bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).




5. Connect the accumulator tube to the accumulator tube (2).
6. Tighten the accumulator tube nut at the accumulator tube.

Tighten
Tighten the accumulator tube nut at the accumulator tube to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).




7. Install the accumulator tube clip.
8. Install the vacuum brake booster brakes.
9. Install the air cleaner assembly.
10. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
11. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
