Positive: Service and Repair
BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: When replacing battery cables be sure to use replacement cables that are the same type, gauge, length, and that follow the same routing.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery.
3. Remove the remote positive stud cover.
4. Remove the positive battery cable junction block lead nut and the positive battery cable from the underhood accessory wiring junction block.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
6. Remove the front lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Upper) or Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Lower) in Cooling System.
7. Remove the positive battery cable from the starter motor BAT terminal.
8. Remove the battery cable wiring harness from the wiring harness retainers.
9. Remove the positive battery cable from the wiring harness conduit.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the positive battery cable into the wiring harness conduit.
2. Install the battery cable wiring harness to the wiring harness retainers.
3. Install the positive battery cable to the starter motor BAT terminal.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the starter solenoid BAT terminal nut.
Tighten
Tighten the starter solenoid BAT terminal nut to 10 N.m (84 lb in).
5. Install the front lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Upper) or Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Lower) in Cooling System.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Install the positive battery cable and the positive battery cable junction block lead nut to the underhood accessory wiring junction block.
Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable junction block lead nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
8. Install the remote positive stud cover.
9. Install the positive battery cable to the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable terminal bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
10. Connect the negative battery ground cable to the battery.
