A Symptoms - Theft Deterrent
IMPORTANT: The following steps must be completed before using the symptom tables.1. Perform Diagnostic System Check - Antitheft and Alarm Systems in order to verify that all of the following are true:
^ There are no DTCs set.
^ The control module(s) can communicate via the serial data link. Diagnostic System Check
2. Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to the following:
^ Theft Systems Description and Operation
^ Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Description and Operation
^ Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) Description and Operation
Visual/Physical Inspection
^ Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the Theft Deterrent System.
Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories in Diagrams.
^ Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.
^ Ensure that the ignition key is a Pass Key III key. Pass Key III keys are identified by 'PK3' stamped into the steel shank of the key.
Intermittent
Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Diagrams.

^ Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Alarm Mode Inoperative
^ Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Does Not Disarm with Key Lock
^ Horn Inoperative in Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Alarm Mode
^ Lights Inoperative in Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Alarm Mode
^ Security Indicator LED Inoperative
^ Security Indicator Inoperative
