Park Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement^ Tools Required
- J37043 Parking Brake Gable Release Tool
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the left side instrument panel insulator.
2. Remove the left carpet retainer.
3. Pull back the carpet for access.
4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Relieve cable tension from the park brake system at the equalizer.
6. Disconnect the front cable (1) from the rear cable (3) at the connector clip (2).
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Disconnect the electrical connector at the parking brake switch.
9. Remove the three park brake pedal assembly retaining nuts from the body mounting studs.
10. Remove the retaining clip and disconnect the parking brake cable from the park brake pedal assembly. Use J37043 in order to remove the cable from the pedal assembly.
11. Remove the park brake pedal assembly.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the park brake pedal assembly.
2. Connect the park brake cable to the park brake pedal assembly and install the retaining clip.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the three park brake pedal assembly retaining nuts.
^ Tighten the nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the electrical connector to the parking brake switch.
5. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
6. Connect the front cable (1) to the rear cable (3) at the connector clip (2).
7. Adjust the park brake system.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Position the carpet in place.
10. Install the left carpet retainer.
11. Install the left side instrument panel insulator.
