Power Window Switch: Service and Repair

POWER WINDOW SWITCH REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: When removing a power window switch, the ignition switch must be in the OFF position. This will eliminate the possibility of shorting out the switch if a flat-bladed tool, awl, or metal object is used to remove the power window switch from the wiring harness.

1. Apply protective coating/tape at the rear of the rear door power window switch (right and/or left door).
2. Remove the rear door power window switch from the rear door trim panel using a small, flat-bladed tool, inserted at the rear of the rear door power window switch plastic mounting plate.
Press forward in order to release the rear door power window switch mounting plate.
3. With the rear retainer released, pull the switch to the rear and lift up to remove the mounting plate and switch.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear door power window switch.
5. Remove the rear door power window switch from the mounting plate.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the rear door power window switch tabs into the mounting plate slots, pressing in until fully seated.
2. Connect the electrical connector to the rear door power window switch.

3. Install the rear door power window switch and mounting plate into the rear door trim panel, front end first and press the rear end down until fully seated.
