Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the instrument panel carrier.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the cross vehicle beam (1).
3. Remove the bolts (2) from the cross vehicle beam.

Important: Steering column must be in the straight tilt position, using the tilt lever.

4. Remove the cross vehicle beam (1) from the front of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the cross vehicle beam (1) to the front of the dash.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolts (2) and the studs (3) to the cross vehicle beam (1).

Tighten the cross vehicle beam bolts and the studs to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Connect the wiring harness to the cross vehicle beam (1).
4. Install the instrument panel carrier.
