Fill Valve Replacement

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 41416 Ultrasonic Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: If the fill valve is being replaced due to a leaking condition inspect the fill line union check valve for proper operation.




1. Relieve the CNG fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the trunk trim panel.
4. Remove the cargo net, the cargo net knobs and the left wheelhouse carpet.
5. Loosen the fill valve boot clamp and peel back the boot.
6. Disconnect the fill line at the fill valve.




7. Remove the till valve.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Install the fill valve.

Tighten
Tighten the fill valve retaining nut to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).




2. Connect the fill line to the fill valve using a new O-ring face seal. Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly or the equivalent.

Tighten
Tighten the fill line fitting to 37 N.m (27 lb ft).

3. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

4. Connect the HPL power electrical connector.
5. Start the engine. Inspect for CNG fuel leaks at each serviced fitting using the J 41416
6. Slip the boot over the fill valve fitting.

Tighten
Tighten the fill valve boot clamp to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

7. Install the left carpet and the cargo net.
8. Install the trunk trim panel.
