Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system.
- Refer to Disabling the SM System in Restraint Systems.
3. Remove the steering wheel inflatable restraint module.
- Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Restraint Systems.





4. Remove the steering wheel nut (1).





5. Remove the steering wheel using the J1859-A.





6. Remove the steering wheel (2) from the steering column (3).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the steering wheel (2) to the column (3).

Notice Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the steering wheel nut (1).
- Tighten the steering wheel nut to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the steering wheel module.

4. Enable the SIR system.
- Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
