Stabilizer Bar: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Allow the front suspension to hang free. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
3. Remove the lower pinch bolt from the intermediate shaft. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Standard.
4. Remove the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement.
5. Support the front suspension crossmember with a suitable jackstand.
6. Remove the rear mounting bolts from the front suspension crossmember.
7. Remove the center mounting bolts from the front suspension crossmember.
8. Remove the front mounting bolts from the front suspension crossmember.
9. Lower the front suspension crossmember approximately 15 cm (6 inch) by adjusting the jackstands down.
10. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator brackets (2) retaining bolts (l).
11. Remove the stabilizer shaft (3) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the stabilizer shaft (3) to the vehicle.
2. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator brackets (2) retaining bolts (1). Hand tighten the bolts.
3. Install the front mounting bolts to the front suspension crossmember. Hand tighten the bolts.
4. Install the center mounting bolts to the front suspension crossmember. Hand tighten the bolts.
5. Install the rear mounting bolts to the front suspension crossmember. Hand tighten the bolts.

6. Install the rear mounting bolts to the front suspension crossmember.
6.1. Tighten the left rear bolt to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.2. Tighten the right rear bolt to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.3. Tighten the left front bolt to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.4. Tighten the right front bolt to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.5. Tighten the center bolts to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.6. Tighten the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket bolts to 66 Nm (49 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement.
8. Install the lower pinch bolt to the intermediate shaft. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Standard.
9. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
10. Lower the vehicle.
