61. Low and Reverse Clutch Piston Assemble
Tools Required- J 26744-A Lip Seal Installer
- J 39983 Spiral ring Installer
- J 34008 Low Reverse Clutch Remover and Installer
1. Inspect the low and reverse piston housing (649) for damage or for a plugged feed hole.
2. Inspect the clutch housing bushing (648) for damage, cracks, or scoring.
3. Inspect the clutch piston (653) for cracks or damage.
4. Inspect the waved spring (655) for damage.
5. Inspect the inner and outer seals (652, 651) of the low reverse piston for cuts or distortion.
6. Install new inner and outer seals (652, 651) onto the low and reverse piston (653).
IMPORTANT: Always reassemble the clutch piston with new inner and outer seals, regardless of the condition of the old seals.
7. Apply TRANSJEL(R) or equivalent to the inner and the outer seals (652, 651).
8. Use J 26744-A in order to insert the piston (653) into the low and reverse clutch housing (649).
9. Insert the release spring (655) into the piston assembly (649).
10. Use J 39983 and an arbor press in order to install the spiral retainer ring (657) onto the low and reverse housing assembly (649).
11. Using J 34008, install the low and reverse clutch piston housing assembly (649) into the case.
12. Install the retainer ring (647) for the low and reverse clutch housing into the case.
