Door Replacement - Front

Tools Required
* J 36796 Clip Zip Tool
* J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel.
2. Remove the door module.
3. Remove the water deflector.
4. Remove the inside door handle.
5. Remove the window inner belt seal strip.
6. Remove the outside rear view mirror.
7. Remove the window outer belt seal strip.
8. Remove the window.
9. Remove the window weatherstrip.
10. Remove the door frame applique.
11. Remove the window regulator.
12. Remove the rear window channel.
13. Remove the outside door handle.
14. Remove the door latch.
15. Remove the upper auxiliary weatherstrip.
16. Remove the door bottom auxiliary weatherstrip.




17. Insert a small flat bladed tool between the door wire harness conduit (2) and the hinge pillar in order to depress and release the tab (3) on the door wiring harness connector.




18. Disconnect the door wiring harness from the body wiring harness.
19. Remove the door wire harness from the hinge pillar.




20. Remove the wiring harness clips (2) from the inner door panel.
21. Remove the rubber conduit and the wiring harness from the door.
22. Remove all the plastic nuts and retainers from the door shell.
23. Remove the door check link.




24. Remove the intermediate hinge fasteners (1) from both hinges.
25. Lift the door to remove.
26. Remove the door hinges.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the door hinges to the door.
2. Align the door hinge halves.
3. Lower the door so the hinge halves mate together.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Apply Loctite(R) Blue, GM P/N 12345382, or Canadian P/N 10953489, or equivalent to the intermediate door hinge bolts.
5. Install the intermediate door hinge bolts to the hinge.

Tighten the intermediate front door hinge bolts (1) to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

6. Install the door check link.
7. Touch up any paint damage to the hinge and the check link fasteners with body color paint.
8. Install all the retainers into the door shell that were removed during disassembly.




9. Route the wiring harness and the conduit into the door.
10. Install the door wiring harness clips (2) to the inner door panel.




11. Connect the door wire harness to the body wire harness.
12. Snap the wire harness connectors into the hinge pillar.
13. Install the door bottom auxiliary weatherstrip.
14. Install the upper auxiliary weatherstrip.
15. Install the door latch.
16. Install the outside door handle.
17. Install the rear window channel.
18. Install the window regulator.
19. Install the door frame applique.
20. Install the window weatherstrip.
21. Install the window.
22. Install the window outer belt seal strip.
23. Install the outside rearview mirror.
24. Install the window inner belt seal strip.
25. Install the inside door handle.
26. Adjust the door if needed. Refer to Door Adjustment.
27. Install the water deflector.
28. Install the door module.
29. Install the door trim panel.
